How to use StemInteract (quick guide)

StemInteract’s Question Explorers help you practise official National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher questions from recent years.

1. Choose your subject and level.
2. Find a suitable question.
   Use the year, topic and other filters—or the search box—to focus on what you want to practise.
3. Open the official question and attempt it yourself.
   Try without notes or AI first. Show your working clearly and include units where required.
4. You can show the AI your handwritten work.
   If you have worked with a pen and notepad, take a clear, well-lit photograph and upload it with the prepared prompt. Ask the AI to identify where your method went wrong or suggest the next step—without completing the whole answer for you.
   Make sure the photograph is upright and readable, and do not include your name, school or other personal information. AI may misread handwriting or calculations, so check its comments carefully.
5. If you are stuck, select “Get a hint”.
   Choose ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude from Ask AI. StemInteract opens the service and prepares the prompt where supported. If the prompt is not already shown, paste it from the clipboard. Ask for one hint at a time, then return to the question and continue your own attempt.
6. Check the official marking instructions.
   Compare your answer with the official marking points. These are authoritative.
7. Use the explanation option only after making a genuine attempt.
   AI can help explain the method and where marks may be earned, but it can make mistakes. Always check its explanation against the official marking instructions.
8. Learn from each mistake.
   Record what cost you marks and write a short rule for next time—for example, “Convert to SI units first” or “State the relationship before substituting”.
9. Try another question on the same topic.
   Repeat until your method is reliable, then move on to timed practice.

Best routine: Choose -> Attempt -> Hint if needed -> Check -> Fix -> Repeat.
